Why I Refuse to Undervalue My Art? And Why You Should Too
Share
"Your art is too expensive.”
“You should lower your prices."
No, I won’t. And here’s why.
In the early days of my career, I was constantly undervalued.
I remember selling my artwork for £50, £45, £60 at a Christmas art fair in the UK. Artworks that I spent 2-3 weeks on each one. One person took one look at my £50 piece, gasped, and walked away, without a word.
This was 2019, one of the lowest moments of my career.
-I was tired of being undervalued.
-I was tired of being "reasonable."
-I was tired of going out of my way to please people who didn’t respect my work.
So, I made a decision.
-I stopped being the artist who underpriced their value.
-I started being the artist who knew their worth.
-I raised my prices.
-I found an audience that appreciated my work.
-I set clear boundaries.
📌 Fast forward to 2025:
For those who can’t afford originals, I offer:
-Art prints (Standard, Timed, and Limited Editions)
-Merchandise
-Memberships for exclusive content and perks
And recently, I started Affiliate Marketing.
Yes, I occasionally donate pieces to causes I believe in because I want to show that I care.
But I do not give my work away for free.
🔑 Lesson?
-Find the people who see your value in your work.
-Move on from those who don’t.
Because the moment you start valuing yourself, the right people will too.
Raise your prices, the right people will find you.
